Trainings for mentors of the third stage of the "Girls in Science" project took place in Osh
May 27, 2022, 07:50On 26 May 2022 Osh city hosted trainings for mentors of the "Girls in Science" project, which will work with mentees as part of the implementation of the third phase of the mentoring program of the project. The trainings are held to improve mentoring skills, and each mentor received a "Mentor's Guide" for proper and effective organization of work.
"Girls
in Science" project coordinator Roza Kayikova spoke about the project goals
and why it is necessary to increase the
potential of girls in STEM, and thanked the mentors for their desire to
contribute to the development of girls.
Project
experts Anipa Usupkojoeva and Guljamal Sultanalieva gave instructions on the
rules of interaction between mentor and mentee, the need to take into account
gender aspects in mentor activities, told in detail about the role of mentor in
the world and in Kyrgyzstan, and shared their success stories of mentoring.
Recall that
the third stage of the mentoring program, which selected successful and
progressive women in Kyrgyzstan from the involved business associations and
STEM professions, was launched.
A total of
2,600 girls from pilot schools in Bishkek and Osh cities; Alamedin and Ysyk-Ata
districts of the Chui region will participate in the mentoring program of the
'Girls in Science' project. During the 5-6 months mentors will have the
opportunity to share with girls all their knowledge, skills, professional and
life experience and will help with self-determination and choice of future
career.
