On May 12, a seminar was conducted for the local committee on the prevention of domestic violence in Belovodskiy district.

This marks the second workshop for the Belovodskiy local committee. Committee members and local government activists were briefed on statistics and the situation regarding domestic violence, legislation related to protection from domestic violence, as well as the goals, objectives, and functions of the local committee. Additionally, the seminar's trainer, Gulbarchyn Jumabaeva, discussed various types of gender and domestic violence.

The regular occurrence of domestic violence cases in Kyrgyzstan highlights the urgent need for robust measures to combat such violence. It is crucial that every committee member demonstrates empathy, understanding, and sympathy towards victims of domestic violence. This requires individuals, including decision-makers, police officers, judges, clergy, medical workers, and representatives of the education system, to learn to perceive the situation from the perspective of the victim, rather than that of the abuser and aggressor. This collective effort by the citizens of Kyrgyzstan will foster intolerance towards any form of violence, making homes and society safe for everyone - children, adults, women, men, boys, girls, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

The seminars are being conducted as part of the project "Increasing Gender Sensitivity of Members of Committees on Prevention of Domestic Violence in Chui Region to Prevent Domestic Violence," funded by the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
