One Poem Contest

 

THE REGULATION

 


1.                  General Regulation:

1.1.                  This regulation governs a poetry contest organized by the National Union of Writers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

1.2.                  The contest is co-organized by the National Union of Writers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Public Foundation Roza Otunbaeva Initiative.

1.3.                  The organizers will provide the following services:

-       Preparation of the documents for the contest

-       Creation of the contest committee

-       Organization of contest events

-       Organizing the award ceremony for the winners

-       Coverage of the contest and its results in mass media

2.                  The Main Purpose of the Contest:

-       To glorify the beauty, richness, and depth of the Kyrgyz language

-       To reveal the talent of young poets, inspire their skills, and glorify Kyrgyz poetry

-       To select the best poets among the participants

 

3.                  Stage and Duration of the Contest:

3.1.                       Selection round: Contest works will be accepted from May 5 to June 5, 2024.

3.2.                  Evaluation: Reading and evaluation of contest works will be held from June 5 to June 15, 2024.

3.3.                  Final: Will take place during a specially prepared poetry evening.

 

4.                  Contest Conditions:

4.1.                  Only one poem written in the Kyrgyz language will be accepted for the contest.

4.2.                  The contest is open to poets aged 18 to 35 years.

4.3.                  Send the poem to the email address of "Writers Union" at jazuuchular@gmail.com or to the Foundation at office@roza.kg with the subject "One Poem Contest"

4.4.                  The poem must be submitted in WORD format, using Times New Roman font size 14, with 1.5 line spacing.

4.5.                  Each author can send only one poem on any topic to participate in the contest.

4.6.                  The organizer will not review and return the submitted poems.

 

5.                  Requirements for the Design of Works Participating in the Contest:

 

5.1.                  A contest jury of five (5) members, including a chairman, will be formed to judge the entries.

5.2.                  The jury will operate according to these rules and determine the winner.

5.3.                  Works will be registered by the organizer and presented to the jury by number, without disclosing the names of the contestants.

5.4.                  The works will be evaluated on a ten-point system.

 

6.                  Criteria for Evaluating the Work:

6.1.                  Knowledge of poetic form, language, and craft

6.2.                  Effectiveness, clarity of character, and innovation

6.3.                  The organizer will tally the scores and determine 5 (five) finalists.

6.4.                  The ranking among the 5 finalists will be determined at the award ceremony by the special competition.

 

7.                  Announcement and Awarding of Winners:

7.1.                  The winners of the competition will be announced and awarded at a special concert.

7.2.                  Prizes of the contest:

1st place: 50,000 (fifty thousand) soms

2nd place: 30,000 (thirty thousand) soms

3rd place: 20,000 (twenty thousand) soms
