The second meeting of mentors and wards of the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her program

The second meeting of mentors and wards of the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her program was held today on December 25 at the I.Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University. The STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her project was initiated by the United Nations Development Program in Kyrgyzstan as part of the Digital x program funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the Rosa Otunbayeva Initiative Foundation (press release on the launch of the project).


The purpose of the meeting was to establish a meaningful connection between mentors and wards enrolled in the program and provide detailed information about STEM opportunities offered in the future workforce, as well as about the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her mentoring program.


At the meeting, the expert of the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her project, Director of the Kyrgyz-German Technical Institute Anipa Usupkozhoeva, spoke about the importance of STEM specialties for a promising career and stressed the importance of attracting girls and women to technological fields.


According to the recent UNDP report "Assessment of Women's STEM Needs in Kyrgyzstan" (2023), women need mentoring support in the learning and career development process. This mentoring program is initiated taking into account the needs of women.


Project expert Asel Dzhakypbekova presented a program of lectures on the development of soft skills (soft/social skills) for wards with a development roadmap for each mentee participating in the program.


The coordinator of the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her project, Albina Osmonalieva, speaks about the goals of the project, which will determine the best mentors and mentors, as well as organizations promoting the STEM direction.


This was the second group of mentoring meetings. To date, 202 mentors and 345 mentees have been registered in the program. Lectures on the following topics will be organized for the participants of the program within the framework of the project:fundamentals of leadership, fundamentals of time management, fundamentals of financial management, emotional intelligence, empathy and critical thinking. There is a hotline in the telegram channel for mentors and mentees. At the end of January 2024, the final event will be held within the framework of which the best participants and partners of STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her will be determined.
