The team of the "Blossoming Aigul" project visited Batken
April 14, 2023, 06:24On April 6, 2023, the team of the "Blossoming Aigul - Active Women's Civil Society Organizations for Peace in Kyrgyzstan" project made a working visit to the Batken region. The purpose of the visit was to exchange information with community leaders and active women regarding strategies and best practices in the fields of climate security and gender-inclusive peacebuilding in the local context.
During the visit, representatives of the
International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative," UN Women
in Kyrgyzstan, and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization met with Abdikarim
Alimbayev, the Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Batken
region, and his Deputy, Timur Madyarov. Representatives from Batken region, the district,
and local authorities were informed about the project. The heads of the
authorized representative office and pilot districts in the Batken region
expressed their opinions and suggestions for the successful implementation of
the project.
The project "Blossoming Aigul - Kyrgyzstan's
active women's civil society organizations for peace" will be implemented
by UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations, and the International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva
Initiative" with the support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund in 2023-2024.
The project will be carried out in 9 communities of the Batken district. The
aim of the project is to enhance the institutional capacity of women's civil
society organizations in addressing climate security issues in Kyrgyzstan and
creating favorable conditions for their participation in decision-making at the
strategic level. The project was selected from 444 applications from 26
countries and will support the implementation of national programs and
policies.
