In October 2012, Roza Otunbaeva was chosen as a Goodwill Ambassador of
the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign (Pink Ribbon Campaign) for the Central
Asian region. In June 2012, through the efforts of Roza Otunbayeva, the
Japanese government provided assistance in the purchase of mammography
equipment to improve the difficult situation with breast cancer screening in
the Kyrgyz Republic.
