The «Improving the Representation of Women in OVD: Problems, Challenges, Perspectives» Round Table Held in the City of Talas
June 6, 2016, 06:00On June 3rd, 2016, the “Improving the Representation of Women in OVD: Problems, Challenges, Perspectives” Round Table was held in Talas as part of the “Ustat-3: Peace and Trust – Equal Access to Law-Enforcement and Justice Departments” program, thanks to the financial support of the UNODC in partnership with the MIA and the Association of Female Police Officers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The event was attended by the UVD board and employees of the district UVD and Talas Police Department, employees of the personnel services and IDN, as well as representatives from the city’s Department of Education, directors of Talas middle schools, and the wards and mentors from the project.
Talas District Deputy Governer Aziyat Djarkinalieva also participated in the round table, and made sure to welcome all the round table participants while expressing the gratitude of all the partners and participants of the project. She also reiterated her hopes for the further development and success of the “Ustat” project.
Participating mentor Bermet Temirbaeva mentioned in her speech that women have been successful in fulfilling their responsibilities as employees of the OVD. The history of Kyrgyzstan shows Kyrgyz women have always been strong and intelligence, they have been able to handle “women’s work” while leading their people and country.
Parents of girls participating in the program where also present at the round table, and they were overjoyed at the success of their daughters in “Ustat-3” project.
At the end of the round table, a program that had been designed by tutees and mentors was shown to the assembled representatives. As part the show, students filmed themselves marching and singing themes songs and poems in Kyrgyz, Russian, and German, as well as dancing Kyrgyz and Spanish dances.
At the end of the round table, all the experts and Asel Osmonova and Adilbek Biibosunov were given certificates by the tutees, and executive director of the IPF “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva gave letters of thanks to the Talas District UVD, the City of Talas UVD, the Talas Department of Education, and other partners.
