Promotion of public policy on school nutrition

Nutrition is one of the most important factors determining the health of the population. Proper nutrition ensures the healthy growth and development of children, contributes to the diseases prevention and life expectancy of people, increase their productivity and creates the conditions for their adequate adaptation to the environment. Violations of healthy and balanced nutrition are caused both by the crisis in the production of food products and raw materials, and by a sharp decrease in the purchasing power of the most population. There is an acute problem of the quality of food products and food raw materials. The level of education of the population in matters of healthy, balanced nutrition is very low. An important component of the state policy on informing the population is the formation of a conscious attitude towards nutrition among the population itself, its readiness to create conditions for a balanced nutrition culture. The public awareness on these matters is low. Based on this, it is necessary: • creation of a flexible education and advanced training system for personnel in managing food security and nutrition; • improving access to food safety and nutrition information; • raising awareness at all levels of government, • capacity building of the population is the main focus; • raising public awareness about improving the culture of nutrition through community mobilization. The project aims to raise public awareness on the basics of healthy nutrition and develop the skills of healthy nutrition by increasing the capacity of representatives from education, healthcare, local government institutions, civil society and the media. Through social mobilization, building and developing an intersectoral dialogue with key state and local authorities, local communities, educational and health institutions on food security, healthy nutrition and improving the quality of life, as well as developing healthy nutrition and lifestyle skills. Project Objectives: Capacity development of communities and local authorities through trainings and workshops; Development and printing a recipe book in Russian and Kyrgyz languages including 25 traditional dishes, holding 3 celebration events with recipe book presentation, related to World Food Day in the pilot villages on October 16 Strengthening the capacity of the media to build public opinion about food security and nutrition through television and radio, training for journalists, broadcasting. - Raising community and public awareness of work in the area of food security and nutrition. Activities on preparation of 25 national cuisine dishes for inclusion in the recipe book took place in three villages (Safarovka, Octiyabr’ and Bagysh) of Suzak district in Jalal-Abad region. A Healthy Food Festival was organized in the Bagysh village of Suzak district in Jalal-Abad region. 5 training workshops (with more than 130 participants) for representatives of education and health care and 1 workshop for decision-makers were held on the topic "Raising public awareness on the basics of good nutrition and developing nutrition skills." 1. Project goals:
