Focus group discussion on the integration of traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) in the educational process
June 20, 2014, 06:00As part of the Second Festival of Education, the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative held a held a focus group meeting with representatives of environmental and educational organizations (including partners Christensen Fund), representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Department of Education of the Mayor of Bishkek (Goron) republican and municipal children's education centers on June 20, 2014 to present projects and their results, and to discuss ways of implementing traditional ecological knowledge in the educational process. The focus group Included the following presentations: a) Teacher's Guide "Green Package" from the Regional Center of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of the Kyrgyz Republic; b) Multimedia program "More on 30 topics to help primary school teachers" and other publications for children from the Public Fund "Taalim Forum"; c) “Experience Cultural and Research Center" Aigine "in the promotion of traditional knowledge in education" from "Aigine"; d) Presentation of the projects of the Center of Public association "Ustad shakirt"; e) “Education Kyrgyz pastoral traditional knowledge in vocational high schools KR" from the Public Fund "Rural Development Fund» (Rural Development Fund); f) Presentation 5 modules for the study of traditional knowledge from universities to the Center for Biocultural Diversity of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University. KI Scriabin; g) Invitation to interactive museum exhibit on traditional ecological knowledge for children from the International Foundation "Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva" Following the meeting, participants thanked the organizers for providing this site for the exchange of experience and information, which were presented concrete proposals for further cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Education Department and the participating organizations (invitations to seminars for teachers, participated in the August readings).
