An «Evening of Poetry» is Held Bishkek in Conjunction with International Women's Day
March 3, 2014, 06:00On the first spring-like day 150 talented people of all ages and professions gathered at the Public Broadcasting Corporation studios to share their love of poetry. The occasion was the “Evening of Poetry,” timed to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8. Young poets shared their most cherished poems aloud to the audience that including former Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva. The “Evening of Poetry” has been an annual tradition of the Roza Otunbayeva International Public Foundation. Many of the curious attendees came to see what poets write about today. At the “Evening of Poetry” today’s young poets demonstrated a love for timeless themes. Their poems pondered ancestors, loved their fellow Man and Motherland, expressed happiness and despair and desired to know the world and the Self. Each poet sees and writes in his or her own way. Some wrote in traditional verse, while others experimented with rhythm and rhyme. Some strove to comprehend complex themes, while others found beauty and inspiration in everyday life. Every poem was unique and individual.
