Bishkek students mark the end of the space and astronomy-themed Week of Science, Technology and Production

February 15, Bishkek – The Altyn Tyyyn Engineering Academy, partner of the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative IPF’s annual Festival of Education, marked the end of the national Week of Science, Technology and Production with a closing ceremony at KTU. Roza Otunbayeva attended the gala event.

 

The event was organized to encourage students to study, become innovators in various scientific fields, and highlight the importance of quality education to Kyrgyzstan’s economic development.

 

Altyn Tyyyn organized a number of interesting and informative activities as part of the Week of Science, Technology and Production”: An exhibition of young people’s work at KTU, a presentation on the scientific and creative output of young people, as well as games including “Mathematics,” “KVN Physicists,” “Gauge Your Intellectual Potential,” and “Search and Destroy” that challenged and empowered the participants. The KTU exhibition of young people’s work included articles, research and development, drawings, crafts, robots, cars and more, all created by Bishkek city students, grades 6-11. A handful of gifted children received certificates and gifts.

 

Two hundred students in grades 8-11 from metropolitan educational institutes attended the event. Some of the students’ best work will be featured in a gift catalog at the upcoming 2014 XIX International Astronomy Olympics to be held in Kyrgyzstan.
