Feedback: Tokmok Municipality

The Fund received a letter from the deputy mayor of Tokmok, Abdraeva Marat Dolosbekovicha .

"On June 5, Ex-president of Kyrgyzstan, Roza Otunbayeva, came to Tokmok. She visited our project to promote compulsory pre-primary education for six year-olds who currently do not have access to preschool.

During the trip, Otunbayeva visited a number of facilities and delivered lectures on the development of preschool education. One of the main issues she raised during her time here was improving nurseries for preschool children. Rosa Isakovna noted that was very inefficient to use large rooms only as bedrooms. The rooms are used only two hours a day, then left empty the rest of the day. After this meeting, we considered various options and found a solution to this problem through the use of mobile, compact bedroom furniture that can be moved out of the way when not in use. Thus, each preschool would have an extra room available.

We put our proposed solution up for a vote on Tokmok’s Odnoklassniki page. The photo below displays the results: More than 10,000 people have said, "YES."

Perhaps at this stage it would be rational to use space more efficiently in order to reduce the amount of waiting in kindergartens.
