As part of the "Life in Dignity" project, an official handover of equipment and other products will take place in the village of Ivanovka
April 8, 2024, 10:32April 8, 2014, Bishkek. On April 9, 2024 in the
village of Ivanovka will be held an official handover of certificates for
equipment and materials to the beneficiaries of the project "Life in
Dignity" for the implementation of their business plans.

Initiative together with the partner organization International Alert is
implementing the project "Life in Dignity" in the village of
Ivanovka, Issyk-Ata district, Chui region, funded by the Government of the
United Kingdom. The project aims to overcome gender stereotypes and
discrimination, reduce gender-based domestic violence through behavioral change
and economic empowerment of families.
The project has undertaken a wide range of activities
to achieve its objectives. Work was carried out with family members of the
older generation (mother-in-law, father-in-law) and the younger generation
(daughter-in-law, son-in-law) to promote the formation of harmonious
relationships in families and reduce the level of domestic violence. In
addition, training was provided on the development of business ideas and grants
were provided for their implementation.
The training program had two parts:
The first part was aimed at promoting harmonious
relationships in families and reducing domestic violence.
The second part was dedicated to creating conditions
for the economic empowerment of the family through income generating activities
(IGAs).
The main objective of the project is to help overcome
gender stereotypes and discrimination, reduce gender-based domestic violence
through behavioral change and economic empowerment of families. During the
course of the project, 15 IGA business plans were developed by the project
beneficiaries. These projects were in turn approved at the commission meeting
which included representatives of government agencies, International Alert and
the International Foundation Roza Otunbaeva Initiative.
The first stage of the project "Life in
Dignity" has been successfully implemented and the beneficiaries of the
project will receive free support in the form of purchase of necessary
materials and inventory for their business projects.
Based on the results of the business plans prepared:
7 families will start sewing business;
5 families will start beet farming;
1 family will open a hair salon;
1 family decided to open a fast food outlet;
1 family has chosen poultry farming.
This will not only create new business opportunities,
but also strengthen the economic position of the local community.
At the event on April 9, 2024, the project
beneficiaries will receive sewing machines, equipment for the fast food outlet
and hair salon, and other products necessary for the implementation of the
business plans.
The event will be attended by representatives of the
British Embassy, partner organization International Alert, International
Foundation Roza Otunbaeva Initiative, representatives of state and local
self-government bodies.
It is planned to launch the second phase of the
project in the village of Ivanovka, Issyk-Ata district, Chui region, which will
focus on economic empowerment as a factor in reducing domestic violence.
