In Ivanovka village, a series of training sessions aimed at enhancing financial literacy for families commenced
November 2, 2023, 07:11On November 1,
15 families in Ivanovka village participated in training sessions focusing on
financial literacy, family budget management, and strengthening household
economies as part of the "Tatyktuu Zhashoo - Life in Dignity" project
and methodology.
The
"Tatyktuu Zhashoo" project comprises two parts: social and economic.
Between August and October 2023, the initial phase of training sessions
addressing the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence was conducted.
The subsequent phase aims to empower families economically and engage in
income-generating activities.
Shakirat
Toktosunova, Central Asia Director at International Alert, emphasized,
"This is a pilot project, and our methodology represents a novel approach
to preventing sexual and gender-based violence. We work with all family
members, including mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, and husband,
to prevent domestic violence. Our methodology facilitates the enhancement of
women's socio-economic status through grants allocated to daughters-in-law for
the realization of their business ideas"
Roza Kaiykova,
Executive Director of the Roza Otunbaeva Initiative Foundation, added, "We
believe that by expanding women's economic opportunities and enhancing
financial literacy within families, we can contribute to a future where women
play a pivotal role in household economies and society at large"
Starting from
November 2023, the economic component of the project will be implemented,
focusing on empowering women to contribute to household economies effectively,
manage household finances, allocate family budgets wisely, and encourage
savings.
With the support
of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz
Republic, families in Ivanovka village and Osh city were chosen to participate
in a competition for small grants to realize their business ideas in January
2024. These families, who are beneficiaries of social security programs from
the Ministry, take part in project sessions where they can receive free
business counseling.
