Development of a Joint Vision for Partnership within the Framework of the Project "Active Women's Civil Society Organizations of Kyrgyzstan for Peace"

On June 19-20, 2023, a seminar was held in Osh as part of the project "Active Women's Civil Society Organizations of Kyrgyzstan for Peace"

 

Representatives of the Batken region administration, heads and staff of nine aiyl okmotu (village councils), and development partners gathered at the seminar to discuss the Women, Peace, and Security concept and the implementation of the project to strengthen collaboration with women's civil society organizations in Kyrgyzstan.

 

The purpose of the event was:

 

To provide a platform for dialogue and improve understanding of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) concept, with a focus on climate change adaptation as a factor for conflict prevention, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting gender equality through the use of different methodologies.

 

To develop a common vision of cooperation among local self-governments, central government structures, communities, women's civil society organizations, and define their roles to facilitate stronger interaction between communities, central government structures, and local self-governments.

 

To jointly develop scenarios for project implementation, with a focus on the leadership role of the Batken region administration, state structures, local self-government bodies, communities, and women's civil society organizations.

 

The seminar contributed to a better understanding of the concept of "Women, Peace, and Security" and the promotion of gender equality. Seminar participants discussed important aspects of the project and developed scenarios for its implementation.



The seminar was organized by UN Women, FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), and the International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative," with financial support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund.

 

The project "Active Women's Civil Society Organizations of Kyrgyzstan for Peace" was presented at the seminar. The project aims to establish effective cooperation with women's civil society organizations. It includes goals, objectives, basic mechanisms, and expected results. The seminar discussed the project's formula to determine the best ways to implement it.
