Photos: The first day of the Third Festival of Education

The third annual Festival of Education, which is a component of the large-scale eco-project "Think Globally, Act Locally”, was officially opened in the capital.

The main objectives of the eco-project were to increase civic responsibility and the level of environmental culture among children, young people and residents of the city of Bishkek, observe cleanliness and create a favorable environment for a healthy lifestyle.

Opening the festival aimed at raising environmental awareness and responsibility among children and youth held in the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University.

Former President Roza Otunbayeva talked about the importance of the event and asked the young people to take an active role in the care of the environment.

Mayor Kubanichbek Kulmatov thanked the initiators of the Festival, as well as all those who took part in it.

"It's nice to see that you, young people interested in the city. Municipality is always ready to support the urban initiative. After all, we all want to live in a beautiful, clean and comfortable city. I encourage everyone to be active, to become true masters of this city," he said in his welcoming speech.

After the opening ceremony, there was a tour of the laboratories of the University, as well as trade fair and eco-bazaar.

Additionally, the "Urban Green Conversation" forum was held in the main auditorium KNAU. Forum participants shared ideas, demonstrated successful eco-projects, and discussed methods for collecting and recycling.
