Former Kyrgyz President Otunbayeva delivers a keynote speech at the joint conference of UNICEF and the Club of Madrid

16-17 March – R. I. Otunbayeva gave a keynote speech in Brussels at the joint conference of UNICEF and the Club of Madrid "New Paradigms in Peace-Building: A sustainable world through the provision of social services to children and understanding of society as a single, common to all." In vulnerable, post-conflict communities there is an urgent need to educate children in the spirit of peace, nonviolence, openness to the world. Education plays a key role here. Donor countries, the European Union, United Nations organizations to increase over the years the amount of aid to peaceful rather than military operations in conflicts, focusing on conflict prevention, a better understanding of each other conflicting parties, reducing the potential for conflict in humans. UN Peacebuilding Fund provides resources in Kyrgyzstan wide range of work in this direction.
