«Think Globally, Act Locally: Improving Environmental Responsibility Among Children and Youth » Project

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new project called "Think Globally, Act Locally: Promoting Environmental Responsibility Among Children and Youth", which aims to increase civic responsibility and the level of environmental culture among children and youth, as well as residents of Bishkek, by changing perspectives from that of passive observers to that of active participants in environmental actions and activities which enable an environment for healthy living and sustainable development.
This eco-project began with the preparations for the 3rd Festival of Education with a focus on the environment, scheduled for April 24-25, 2015.
The 1st Festival of Education, the purpose of which was to revive the value, importance, quality and priority of education in society, was initiated by the Foundation and held in May 2013. In 2014, the second Festival was devoted to science and technology, as well as traditional ecological wisdom. The first day was hosted by the I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University.
The theme of the 3rd Festival of Education, to be held in the spring of 2015, will be the environment. The first day of the Festival will take place at the Skryabin Kyrgyz National Agrarian University, and the second day in city center.
The 3rd Festival will represent a large part of the eco-project in 2015, providing a platform for the implementation projects with cooperation from environmental, youth, community and public institutions in Bishkek. The project will consist of the following components:
1. Ecology lectures for Bishkek teachers.
2. "Caravan of Knowledge: Mobile Workshop of Natural Sciences" in schools of Bishkek.
3. Eco-actions ("TazaBISH" – Clean Bishkek, creation of a troop of ecology volunteers, "My green friend" (planting), "Green Bishkek" - city schoolyard greenification; International Ecological Action Let’s Do It!" / "Clean Planet/ "March of Parks", "No more Plastic Bags", paper collection competitions; events at the Museum of Water).
4. Contests/Quiz Shows/Conferences/Tour ("Eco-Photography", competitions of videos and posters/drawings, an ecology teaching methodology fair, "Eco-selfie", ecology quiz show).
5. Informational and Educational Campaign (Eco-studio, special reports, etc.).
