Thank You Letter on Behalf of Young Poets

March 25, 2013, 06:00

Respected Roza Isakovna!

First, I would like to congratulate you on the forthcoming Nooruz holiday. This thank you letter is not my personal initiative; it is also the desire of many poetry lovers, because the “Poetry Night” you initiated did not leave many of our fellow citizens indifferent. Moreover, I was able to personally talk to many of those who began to take a larger interest in the poetry they were exposed to by the “Poetry Night”. These are people that earlier did not even understand what poetry is! They happily acknowledge that, after that evening, a change of sorts took place in their lives and that poetry was alien to them before. Given the fact that today to be able to touch the heart of just one listener is a huge accomplishment, then without a doubt the results of the event you held are priceless. Perhaps due to the fact that my wife and I both read our poetry on that evening, after the event was aired we received many calls congratulating us and asking for our books. Before this, similar evenings had been held many times, but there had never been such a response or level of attention. Now I am sure that prominent state and public figures will pay special attention to the subject of poetry, and moreover, they themselves will actively begin organizing similar events, and this will without a doubt increase the population’s interest in poetry.

On behalf of young poets who were given the opportunity to read their own works on that evening and from me personally, I would like to sincerely express our respect and gratitude for the support of young talents and the inspiration you have given to the all of the worshipers of the written word of the Kyrgyz people.

Respectfully,
