Roza Otunbayeva received American award for leadership
December 12, 2012, 06:00According to the statements to journalists on Tuesday of the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Press-Secretary Nurjigit Kadyrbekov, Kyrgyzstani Ex-President Roza Otunbayeva will receive an award for leadership in Washington.
“From 12-15 December there will be a working visit of Ex-President Otunbayeva to Washington, where she will speak at the Eurasia Foundation. There Ms. Otunbayeva will be presented with an award for leadership,” said Mr. Kadyrbekov.
“Additional, meetings are planned with the officials from the US State Department and international organizations, which are active in the issues facing women and children, peacebuilding, and multiculturalism,” Mr. Kadyrbekov stated.
For the record, at the moment Kyrgyzstani Ex-President Otunbayeva is in the United States on a working visit. There have already been meetings between Ms. Otunbayeva and the head of UNICEF, Anthony Lake, and UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding support, Judy Cheng-Hopkins. The Ex-President attended a concert of Kyrgyzstani musicians, pianist Azamat Sydykov and violoncellist Nurima Salievaya. Meetings are planned in UN Headquarters and with representatives of the Soros Foundation.
“On 17-18 December Ms. Otunbayeva will take part in a meeting of former heads of state in Little Rock, Arkansas,” said Kadyrbekov.
