January 11, 2014, 06:00

“Open Book” aims to assist in the creation and development of strategies and policies for Accessible Educational Resources (AER) in Kyrgyzstan based on existing government educational policies.

The project will:

1. Identify regulatory frameworks and measures that should be taken to ensure broad access to educational materials via AER.

2. Inform the public about the importance and benefits of AER through the creation of a coalition to promote AER initiatives by informing stakeholders of possible roadblocks in the process and the capacity of civil society to promote AER.

3. Draft a paper on implementing AER in Kyrgyzstan with specific recommendations on how to increase the use of AER in educational practice.

It is expected that “Open Book” will be the first step in the writing and implementation of strategic documents in accordance with the Education Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2010-2020. It is also expected to expand the scope of educational materials, methods, and textbooks tailored to socially vulnerable populations.

“Open Book” is scheduled to be completed by September 2014.
