«State Accountability to the Community and Citizen Participation in Good Governance» Conference, Bishkek

January 23-24, 2014 – The Public Advisory Boards (PAB) under the state authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative is organizing an international conference under the title “Social Accountability and Citizen Engagement in Good Governance.”


The conference will be held with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic, USAID, UNDP and OSCE.


This conference summing up three years of work between the PAB and ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic, seeks to deepen and broaden the dialogue on governance, increase government accountability to the public, and update the mission of the PAB in accordance with international experience.


Experts from Europe and Asia invited to share their experiences with successful cooperation between different analogies of public advisory boards and government agencies as well as with citizens’ participation in local governance.


Together with government representatives there will be discussed the challenges of forming the PAB. Also, there will discussions regarding PABs involvement in the process, effective expenditure of state budget, official development assistance, the effectiveness of public services, anti-corruption, and good governance.
