Friends,

It's time to take stock of our “Reading for Children” photo contest, part of ROI’s “Stars Reading to Children” project.

Nine authors and 25 newspapers participated in the contest. The winner was determined by a panel of judges who evaluated in the photos on theme, originality, composition, and technique.

The judging panel chose the following winners:

First place was awarded to Asel Shabdanbekova, for her photo "Grandmother and Granddaughter." Asel’s photo met all of the contest’s criteria and beautifully expressed the comfort and care shared between a grandmother and granddaughter.

Second place went to Nazim Abdybekova, for a photo story which surprised the commission with its ingenuity.

Third place was awarded to Nazgul Omorkulova for her photo.

Picking a winner was not easy. Many participants were deserving of recognition.

Therefore, by unanimous decision of the judging panel, all contest participants will receive a prize for their special photos.

If a child is a miracle, then reading to children is a double miracle!

We sincerely thank all of the adults and children who participated in the competition and wish all to have lots and lots of warm, joyful, and happy years reading!

We sincerely hope that you will join us at our future events!
