From 5 to 28 April 2019 an interactive exhibition “Zhibek Jolu” (Silk Road) for children and their parents will be held at the G. Aytiev - Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, Bishkek.


The exhibitors are Kyrgyzstan and the embassies of the countries located along the Great Silk Road, which connected East and West through trade, cultural, scientific, religious and other exchanges during a long period of history.The embassies of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, China, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, South Korea and Japan take part in the exhibition.


During these days the visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, traditions and interesting facts from the life of the participating countries, and each country will have its own national day. The exhibition will show the goods transported along the Silk Road: varieties of silk products, rice, tea, spices and other items that were traded. The format of the exhibition includes various workshops, concerts, traditional games for children, films and lectures.


For example, on the day of China, you can learn what calligraphy and cutting patterns with scissors are; on the day of Japan you can take part in a tea ceremony, called origami. On the day of Kyrgyzstan, we do handcraft objects out of felt, and on the day of Uzbekistan one can work on the potter's wheel. Masters of oriental martial arts will demonstrate elements of kung fu, karate and aikido. Our exhibition is an opportunity for everyone to become a traveler and visit many countries in one day.
