April 12th is not only Cosmonautics Day. It Is the Day That the Era of Human Space Flight Began!

April 12, 2013, 06:00

The desire to fly and conquer the stars has attracted humanity since antiquity. To soar through the sky like a bird, to rise above the earth and gaze down upon her from a bird’s eye view seemed to be an impossible dream.

The first mentions of the development of a flying machine is found in the writings of Ancient Greece. In about 400 BCE, the ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, statesman and strategist, Archytas of Tarentum, designed the first flying machine in the form of a bird model, which, according to sources, was able to fly for about 200 meters.

As for the aircraft of the modern world, now there are a great diversity of types. There are dirigibles, helicopters, hang gliders, planes, rockets and many more. Creating these “modern marvels” with your own two hands as well as launching them into the sky will be possible in the “Bilimbek’s Laboratory” interactive space at the Education Festival, which will be held on 18-19 May in Bishkek!

During the Festival, there will be workshops on technical modeling from the AltynTuyun Republican Children’s Engineering and Technical Academy.

Everyone who is interested may learn the basics of technical modeling of different types of transport on air, land and sea. Do not miss the chance to build your own personal airplane or rocket, car or boat, and fly your own handmade kite in the Festival’s “Bilimbek’s Laboratory” interactive space!
