Music is the soul of the people
In 2015, “Music is the soul of the people” project of UNESCO and UNDP project introduced the musical culture of ethnic groups of Kyrgyzstan to the audience of Bishkek. Musical instruments and their sounds, dances and traditional clothes, songs and their translation, as well as musical traditions of Uyghurs, Azerbaijanis, Turks, Tajiks, Tatars, Russians. Spectators of the concerts were secondary school students from new settlements in Bishkek, citizens, guests of the capital and representatives of the international missions, diplomatic corps. The project was widely covered by the media. 12 concerts were held at the National Conservatory, representing the musical culture of ethnic groups in Kyrgyzstan. Musical instruments and their sounds, dances and traditional clothes, songs and their translation, as well as musical traditions of Koreans, peoples of the North Caucasus, Dungan, Kazakhs, Uighurs, Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis, Turks, Tajiks, Tatars, Russians, Ukrainians. Secondary school students from new settlements in Bishkek, city dwellers, city guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps came to see the events. Following the outcome of concert presentations “To visit my friends” illustrated book was published in Kyrgyz and Russian languages within the framework of UNSCECO and UNDP project,. The book tells about the culture and traditions of ethnic groups of Kyrgyzstan on the example of the book main character - the boy Bekzhan and his friends.
