STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her

UNDP Kyrgyzstan, in collaboration with the "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative" Foundation, has initiated the implementation of the STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her project within the framework of the Digital x project, financed by the Japanese government. The STEM4ALL x Mentoring Her initiative in Kyrgyzstan aims to address the challenges faced by girls and women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The STEM4ALL platform integrates digital innovations to create communities and networks that support education and success in STEM. This initiative focuses on developing the soft skills of future STEM professionals and helps girls become a part of the STEM community by offering mentoring lessons from experienced mentors. A series of lectures and training sessions will empower girls to master or deepen soft skills, enabling them to build a successful future, pursue a professional career, and strike a balance between work and personal life. According to the World Economic Forum, more than 90% of future jobs will require digital skills. In Kyrgyzstan, gender stereotypes and limited access to resources result in women constituting only 31.1% of graduates in the field of STEM. Our goal is to change this status by providing girls and women with the tools and support they need to pursue successful careers in STEM.

Project goals:

Development and implementation of a mentoring program designed for 300 mentees and 100 mentors, thereby promoting female leadership in STEM fields.
