Women of Kyrgyzstan National Forum

On March 2-3 2015, the “Women of Kyrgyzstan” National Forum was held in Bishkek. The event was attended by over 1200 people from all country regions and Bishkek including women activists, women’s movement veterans, women MPs from the local level to the State Parliament, from the heads of local government to government ministers, representatives of all women networks that make up the country's civil sector, as well as prominent state and public figures of Kyrgyzstan, media leaders and experts. This was the first National Forum of women of such scale since Kyrgyzstan gained its independence. 5 conferences took place with the following topics: the role and participation of women in political development, new challenges and economic empowerment of women, access to equal justice: the right to efficient protection and impartial justice, the health of women and girls, education as a responsibility for development. Creating a space for building dialogue and cooperation of the national women’s movement, uniting women and men in order to empower women and girls
