The summer training camps for migrant activists will be held in Kyrgyzstan

Within the framework of the USAID Dignity and Rights project, there will be held the summer training camps for migrants. Participants will learn different skills needed to solve the problems of their communities, as well as to advance the human rights and interests of migrants from Kyrgyzstan. The event will be attended by 40 socially active citizens who have been migrants and are ready to become community leaders and contribute to their development.

The camps are organized by “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” International Public Foundation with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) / UN Agency for Migration in partnership with the Representative Office of the International Foundation for Election Systems in Kyrgyzstan (IFES) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

• The first event will be held from 24 to 28 June 2019 in the Ak-Chiy rest zone, which is located in Tosor village on the shores of Issyk-Kul lake.

• The second event will be held from 8 to 12 July in Sary-Bulak village of Suzak district, of Jalal-Abad region.

During the events, participants will learn the basics of volunteering, social activity, organizing information campaigns, the structure of the state and elections. The events will be accompanied by separate sessions to develop teamwork skills. Participants will be able to develop real social initiatives that will later be implemented with the support of the “Dignity and Rights” project.

Since 2015, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been implementing the Dignity and Rights project with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Within the project, 389 victims of human trafficking received direct assistance, and over 6,000 Kyrgyz citizens received consultations on safe migration.
