January 4-6 – “The Lotus Girl” dance performance based on Chinese fairy tales

 When: January 4, 5, 6, 15:00

Where: T. Satylganov Kyrgyz National Philharmonic

We invite city youth and center guests to “The Lotus Girl” new music performance, based on Chinese fairy tales, at the “Tunguch” Theater. Moving beyond traditional Chinese fairy tale customs, the performance is composed of fantastic plots featuring not only people but dragons, angels, and evil monsters and heroes alike. Yan is a good omen and auspicious symbol and is considered a preserver of the Chinese nationality. The dragon is composed of the highest quality of various animals: a camel’s head, deer antlers, the eyes of Baba Yaga, a snake’s neck, fish scales, the talons of a falcon, the legs of a tiger, and ears of a cow. In Chinese mythology, the dragon is considered an auspicious symbol. The People’s Republic of China is our neighbor and we are united by a thousand kilometer border. Knowing about our friend’s culture, traditions, and folklore is not only interesting for our children and youth, but is important as well. This fairy tale might just open the door to the world of China for our children.
