A “Stars read books to children” event was held with the participation of the Mayor’s Office of Bishkek, visiting orphaned children at the Rehabilitation Center, January 28. Well-known TV host and designer Assol Moldokmatova and entertainer and “Events.kg” agency founder Urmat Borchenov were invited. As the center’s educator, Assol Moldokmatova read the book “Ai-aalamdyn Jomoktoru” (Tales from Mother Universe) by A. Omokeeva. Urmat Borchenov had a conversation with the upper class students. Meanwhile in a different part of the center, staff members of The “Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva” Foundation held master-classes on drawing, coloring, playing with clay, and making things out of colored paper, as well as played “Twister” and other games with the middle school children. Members of the youth organization “Leader” helped with the master-classes and took part in the activities. As part of the eco-project “Think globally – Act locally: increasing ecological responsibility among children and youth,” educators at the Center talked about the potential harms of garbage, as well as showed video clips and presented on how we should protect our surroundings. According to one of the participants: “The trip to the Rehabilitation Center brought happiness and light to the day like never before. The children were cute, open, and ready to learn—great job to everyone.” The organizer of the event was The “Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva” IPF.
