An event to launch a new project will be held in Batken

An event is scheduled to take place in Batken on April 28, 2023, to launch the project "Active Women's Civil Society Organizations for Peace in Kyrgyzstan". The purpose of the event is to inform the local population about the project's objectives and to foster collaboration with local women's organizations. The event will be attended by representatives from various entities, including the President's Office in the Batken region, the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan, Aigul Japarova, the First Lady of Kyrgyzstan, the UN Peacebuilding Fund, UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative."


During their visit to Batken region, the project team will also hold meetings with local authorities, the rector of Batken State University, youth representatives, and the residents of several village districts, namely Kara-Bulak, Dara, Kyshtut, Suu-Bashy, Tört-Gul in the Batken district, and Sumbula, Leylek, Ken-Talaa, and Toguz-Bulak in the Leilek district.


The project aims to enhance the institutional capacity of women's civil society organizations in addressing climate security issues in Kyrgyzstan and to create favorable conditions for their involvement in decision-making at the strategic level. The "Active Women's Civil Society Organizations for Peace in Kyrgyzstan" project is being implemented by UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative" with the support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund, during the period of 2023-2024.
