On June 29, 2013, the mentoring project “Ustat” held the first training on leadership for mentees and joint seminar on “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” for mentors, mentees, and partners.

Our parents, teachers, army commanders, ringleaders in the classroom, “kings of the yard” and student leaders, politicians, artists, scientists and managers, and our friends – it is an infinite field for reflection and checking for true and imaginary leadership. Today, there are endless opportunities for self-learning, practice, and mastering leadership skills. And the very fact that the ability to be a competent leader can be learned is a reason for optimism, especially in terms of women's leadership.

For this purpose, the mentoring project "Ustat" conducts leadership training for mentees for a clear view of who is a leader, how to be a leader, and what qualities should an effective leader have. The goals of the leadership training were the understanding of leadership qualities and the development of skills of effective communication as a leader. The training consisted of several blocks.

The first was on familiarity with mentees through self-representation and the association with the leader. Questions of familiarity were constructed in accordance with the general task of the block, i.e., how to be a leader?

The second block considered questions of the leader as a manager: the ability to combine leadership and a leading role; levels of staff development, leadership styles, ways of setting goals and forms of control; what and to whom to delegate, and what can be passed by sharing power.

Situational simulations were carried out, and case studies were examined in the areas of politics, culture, and business.

The mentoring project "Ustat" tries to inculcate the culture of communication with leaders from other areas. To do this Ernis Asanaliev was invited to a joint seminar as part of "Ustat." He is an Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, head of the presidential chamber orchestra "Manas" and was accompanied by his mentee, a first-year student at the K. Moldobasanov Kyrgyz National Conservatory. Tahmina Toktosunova, a young and promising violinist, performed two songs: J.S. Bach’s "Allemande and Courante from Partita # 2" and V. Monti’s "Czardas.” Her performance brought a special atmosphere to the event and cheered up all the participants.

The final part of the event was a joint seminar for mentors and mentees on "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." The seminar was given by Camilla Duyshebaevna Sharshekeeva, Rector of the University of Management and Design. These are the skills of effective people:

1) Be proactive

2) Begin with the end

3) Be able to prioritize

4) Learn to be considered in any situation in a"Win-win" concept

5) Know how to listen and hear

6) Strive for synergy

7) Sharpen your vision for yourself - physical, spiritual, mental, and social education and development.

At the end of the joint seminar was a session of questions and answers and a photo of all project participants.
