20 heroine characters of the book about women in the cinema of Kyrgyzstan

On June 23, 2017, the Cinema House hosted a presentation of the film album "The Power of Delicacy and Toughness of Art: Women in the Cinema of Kyrgyzstan" published by the "Roza Otunbayeva Initiative" Foundation with the support of the Swiss Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic. Deputy Director of the Department of Cinematography Gulmira Kerimova gave the welcoming speech and gave the floor to the former president of the Kyrgyz Republic, the author of the idea, Roza Otunbayeva. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Mikael Roux was one of the honorary guests of the event.

Then a film "The First Swallow" (directed by Rakia Shershenova) about the life and work of Lili Dzhusupovna Turusbekova was presented. It was followed by the speech of the veterans of the Kyrgyz cinema Gennady Bazarov and Manas Musaev. In conclusion, Elnura Osmonalieva's film "Seide" was presented.

The book was conceived and created by the "The Roza Otunbayeva Initiative" International Public Foundation in order to acquaint the readers with the talented pleiad of women in the Kyrgyz cinema, to encourage and open the horizons for girls and women who dream to work in filmmaking. Our cinema, nicknamed the "Kyrgyz miracle," would be incomplete and unsaturated without films made by women and without a sincere, penetrating view of reality.
