The IPF “Roza Otunbayeva’s Initiative’s” program “Promotion of State Policies Regarding School Meals in the Kyrgyz Republic” ran demonstrations through-out the first day of the Festival of Education. As part of the day-long program, some of the very best cooks in Kyrgyzstan, including professionals from the Association of Master-Cooks and the #10 Professional School, taught workshops for the school cooks of Bishkek.

Cooks demonstrated how to prepare pumpkin-lentil soups with chickpeas and cumin. All who were lucky enough to try the finished dishes were quick to praise the richness and taste of the soups.

For the second course, cooks served three different dishes – chicken cutlets with bulgurs, pilaf with red lentils, and bean burgers. Guests were struck by the exotic nature of the dishes, and sampled all of them with pleasure.

The artful chefs of the #10 Professional School prepared very healthy vegetable salads with sides of kidney beans, soybeans, and mung beans.

For desert, guests enjoyed cupcakes and mini-rolls with cottage cheese, and everyone was able to go home full and happy.

The goal of the workshop was to demonstrate that healthy and filling school lunches could also be easy to make and very tasty! We can proudly say that the workshop was a huge success!!!
