The IPF «Roza Otunbayeva Initiative» is supporting the «Let’s do it! World» movement, and will be welcoming participants at the Festival of Education, starting at 2 pm.

“Let’s do it! World” is an international movement that was started in Estonia in 2008, when 50,000 people came together to spend five hours cleaning up their country. Since then, this movement has spread to 112 countries and united over 14.5 million people in their efforts to clean up the planet. The goal of the movement is to have at least 150 nations participate, and unite 5% of the world’s population (380 million people) in cleaning their countries on World Cleanliness Day in 2018.

This year marks the first time that Kyrgyzstan will be participating in this movement; and in addition to cleaning up trash, the country will also hold events to teach citizens about the principles of keeping waste to a minimum, as well as how to be able to sort trash into recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

The main idea of the event is to involve as many participants as possible, so that, even after the event itself, citizens begin to feel more self-aware, are more mindful of the city’s appearance, and feel confident in their ability to identify recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

Our goal:

1. For fifty-thousand people to take part in efforts to clean the city;

2. For participants to learn how to correctly sort their trash;

3. For participants to be able to responsibly deal with garbage that has not made it to the garbage can, and who can teach their children, friends, and colleagues how to responsibly dispose of garbage;

4. For all organizations participating in the event to install eco-boxes in their facilities.

We believe that the best way to improve the city is a partnership between the citizens of the city, the municipal government, developmental organizations, and the business community. Only together can we create a city where all of us live comfortably.
