On April 8th, School #94 celebrated Arboretum Day. This special occasion was created in order to transform the School #94 campus, (located in the new Dordoi-1 suburb) into a park for the general public that would bring attention to the environment, as well as raise the concept of proper methods for tree and plant planting. Crucially, the park will hope to attract attention to school campus beautification projects in the suburbs from the business community and other potential donors.

This initiative was launched by the International Public Fund "Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” and supported by the UN Development Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The planting was attended by the former President Roza Otunbayeva, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Kyrgyzstan Nikulita Allen, vice-mayor of Bishkek Aigul Ryskulova, foreign ambassadors and other officials, students and parents of School #94, and representatives of the donor community. Additionally, as part of this promotional event, “Bai-Tushum” bank General Manager Gulnara Shamshieva donated two printer and five computers.

The planting of more than 3,000 seedlings, as well as the installation of equipment , was made possible by the partnership program between the IPF “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” and the United Nations Development Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic.
