Training continues for mentees under the «Mentor-3» project

Trainings were held February 19-20, 2016 in Bishkek and Talas for mentees of The “Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva" IPF’s “Mentor-3. Peace and Trust: equal access to law enforcement and justice” project with the support of the UNODC, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Association of Women Police Officers.

 

The trainers were Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva and Elmira Arapova who are experienced trainers on gender education, mediation, interaction in ministries and civil society, human rights education for schoolchildren, critical thinking and other topics.

 

The goal of the training was improving critical thinking skills, and developing self-reliance, leadership, and communication skills of high school students for future work in the police department, and admission to the Police Academy.

 

The mentees are learning the concept of "gender" and common stereotypes of education for boys and girls, "law-abiding" and "law", personal, social and political rights, the mechanisms of the origin of stereotypes and prejudices and their role in intolerance.

 

Additionally, information was given about the ORT and how to prepare the test as well as the importance of the test in gaining admission to the Academy of the Ministry of Interior.

 

The training will be held in the city of Naryn February 24 and the city of Karakol February 25.
