«Fellow Citizens – 2016»: a working visit to Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts

In preparation for the 3rd Forum "Fellow Citizens - 2016", a study tour of the project was carried out by staff in Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts February 16-18, 2016.

 

During the first day, a meeting was held with the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in Batken Oblast, S. K. Abdyrakhmanov, during which the collection of best contributions by citizens to the development of the Kyrgyz Republic was presented, representing the best examples from Batken Oblast, as well as the participation of Batken regional representatives in the upcoming event was discussed.

 

On the same day a meeting with the students was organized on the Batken State University campus where projects and initiatives of The "Roza Otunbayeva Initiative" IPF aimed at strengthening the capacity of education were presented.

 

During the meeting it was announced by the rector of the Jalal-Abad State University that a series of lectures would be organized for students with the participation of researchers, experts and specialists in the field of IT-technology, agriculture and health among the citizens living abroad. Currently, 16,000 students in 36 specialties and 27 directions are enrolled at Jalal-Abad State University. Of these, more than 1,000 students are from countries both near and far (Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Russia, China, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka).

 

Later there was a meeting with the rector of Osh State University K. Isakov and provost of the State Language and Distance Education O. Shaimkulovym, during which the issues of preparation and holding of the 3rd Forum "Fellow Citizens - 2016" were discussed.

 

K. Isakov, in turn, said that the rector of Osh State University has already begun preparatory work for the forthcoming Forum, created by the organizing committee and sub-working groups. The issue of the Forum - 2016 was also discussed at Osh City Hall.

 

Following the meeting, it was decided to organize guest lectures for students with the participation of researchers, experts and specialists from among the citizens living abroad at Osh State University.

 

Recall that the 3rd Forum "Fellow Citizens - 2016" will be held August 1-2, 2016, in Osh, on the Osh State University campus.

 

The 3rd Forum “Fellow Citizens – 2016”, as well as two previous Forums (Bishkek 2012, 2014) will provide a platform for direct dialogue between the representatives of Kyrgyz diaspora living abroad with government officials, local politicians, business representatives, and non-governmental organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic and will serve as a tangible impetus to share ideas, projects, and active citizenship, as well as provide a convergence of citizens for the establishment of working relationships.
