The visit of the Former President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva to India

February 13-18, 2016, R. I. Otunbayeva, as a member of the Board of the UNESCO Institute named after Mahatma Gandhi, attended the annual meeting, which was held in the framework of "Yes, peace!", a large gathering of young people on the themes of peace education and tolerance among young people against violent extremism. Darika Amanbaeva of the Kyrgyz organization “PU “Youth Peer Education Network Y-PEER” actively participated.

 

During her visit to India, the Former President met with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, S. Dzhayshankarom, Minister of Human Resources Development, Ms. Rubin Smithy Iran, as well as with the State Minister of Internal Affairs of India, Mr. Kieren Rizhizhu (Kiren Rijiju). Substantive discussions on the development of joint projects, as well as the development of relations and cooperation at the level of public organizations and foundations were held.

 

R. Otunbayeva visited the secondary school of the well-known network of private schools, the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, Dzhavaharlal Nehru University, and held a meeting with the leadership of the UNDP office in India.

 

Together with the delegation of Kyrgyzstan and members of the Kyrgyz Embassy in India, she took part in the mass cultural festival Surazhdkund Mela, held in the suburbs of Delhi on an annual basis with the participation of dozens of countries. Group Presentations "Taberik", as well as souvenirs made by children of the children's center "Balazhan" were well received by the approximately one hundred thousand festival participants.
