Post-release – informational lecture on «Mental Arithmetic» methodology

This past January 26, a lecture was held on mental arithmetic methodology at Ishenaly Arabaev Kyrgyz State University. The goal of the lecture was to introduce educators and parents to this new, but quickly gaining popularity, method of accounting for children. General education teachers, primary grades teachers, private kindergarten teachers, and professors of the early childhood education department of the Arabaev KSU attended the lecture.

 

The lecturer, Bishkek «Smartum» Center Head Asel Aitmatov, talked about how this method was well known in ancient India, China, and Japan. Currently, the method is well known in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkey.

 

In comparison, mental arithmetic just recently came into use in Kyrgyzstan. The first centers in Bishkek opened in 2015 in the «Isma» Center in AUCA, «Smartum» Center, and a few others.

 

After receiving information about the methodology, participants asked many questions about how teachers can learn the method, teaching fees, and the possibility of introducing this method to schools or kindergartens.
