March 25, 2014, Bishkek – «Afghanistan After the Withdrawal of the International Coalition: Threats, Risks and Challenges» with Moscow Carnegie Center experts Alexei Malashenko and Petr Topichkanov

 

As part of the “Discover Asia” series, the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative with the Moscow Carnegie Center announces a visit by policy experts Alexi Malashenko and Petr Topichkanov.

 

Mr Malashenko is a leading expert on Asia, Islam and Russian politics. Mr. Topichkanov has a Ph.D. in Eastern and African Studies.

 

The two experts will hold a public lecture entitled, “Afghanistan After the Withdrawal of the International Coalition: Threats, Risks and Challenges” at 4 p.m. on March 25 at the Academy of Management Under the President.

Alexei Vsevolodоvich Malashenko

Doctor of historical sciences, senior researcher of “Religion, Society and Security” at the Moscow Carnegie Center and at the Institute of Eastern Studies and professor of Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Mr Malashenko is the author and editor of numerous books in Russian, English, French and Arabic including: “Islam in Central Asia,” “The Islamic Alternative and the Islamist Project,” “Islam in Russia” and “The Fight for Influence: Russia in Central Asia.”

 

Petr Vladimirovich Topichkanov

“Nonproliferation” Program Coordinator at the Moscow Carnegie Center since 2006, senior researcher at the ИМЭМО Center for International Security SINCE 2009, expert on the Russian International Affairs Council in 2014 and board member on the journal “Nuclear Club” since 2009.
