Russian migration expert Janna Antonovna Zayonchkovskaya visits Kyrgyzstan February 24-28, 2014

Prominent Russian expert on migration within the former Soviet Union, resettlement and labor markets, Janna Antonovna Zayonchkovskaya, will Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation.


Ms. Zayonchkovskaya will give a lecture entitled “The Situation of Kyrgyz Migrants in Russia: How Can It Be Improved?” at February 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the Park Hotel. She will appear live on Birinchi Radio on the 26th, and on February 27 at 4:00 p.m., she will give a lecture at AGUPKR called “The Partnership Between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on Migration.”


 

Background:


Janna Antonovna Zayonchkovskaya

Head of Laboratory Analysis and Migration Forecasting at the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences and member of the Scientific and Social Councils of the Federal Migration Service of Russia. In 1961, she graduated from Moscow State University with a PhD in Geography. She worked in the Akademgorodok Institute of Economics and Industrial Engineering for six years and also headed the workforce sector of the Council for the Study of Production (of the USSR State Planning Committee) for ten.

 

Ms. Zayonchkovskaya has authored more than fifteen books, numerous articles and was executive editor of the recent anthology “Migration in Russia. 2000-2012” published in 2013.
