Mekendeshter Forum
-An initiative of our Foundation;
-A platform combining Kyrgyzstanis around the world with human capital management in the Kyrgyz Republic;
-A search for relationships and meaningful contributions that compatriots have made or may make in the growth, development and prosperity of Kyrgyzstan.
All those that have left Kyrgyzstan and returned home hold the universal desire to improve living conditions for themselves and their families. There remains a strong need for advanced knowledge and technology in Kyrgyzstan. People can be carriers of knowledge and technology. Our compatriots abroad are often connected via a network that now spans many countries, the places to where most of our migrants had left. Our Foundation is building partnerships with the Kyrgyzstani diaspora through the associations of compatriots. The first "Mekendeshter-2012" forum was held in collaboration with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, and received visits from our compatriots from over 20 different countries. Discussions were held on economics and business, transport, communications, health, education, culture, tourism, and public policy towards the citizens of Kyrgyzstan abroad.
The project Mekendeshter Forum is attempting to create the conditions for the self-realization of our compatriots at home, especially in development activities in Kyrgyzstan. The project has set itself the task of overcoming isolation, building bridges, setting to work together to strengthen and develop our country. The knowledge, skills and competencies that our compatriots have acquired during the absence from their homeland are in demand today in all spheres of life, including business, public service, the development of cities, villages, infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and other areas and sectors of the economy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Today we are at the Mekendeshter Forum:
• MAP the Kyrgyz diaspora and the success of Kyrgyzstanis abroad;
• CREATE a virtual platform for the involvement of Kyrgyz diasporas in development projects in Kyrgyzstan;
• SEARCH for simple, ordinary solutions to the needs of members of the diaspora to make personal and organizational contributions to the development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
There are notable examples in Kyrgyzstan where migrants in Russia or other countries have helped their villages and towns to repair social facilities, build roads, provide scholarships, give money for treatment and to repair damage caused by natural disasters. From these examples, our foundation intends to publish a collection of best practices of cooperation between expatriate-Kyrgyzstanis and locals.
WE INVITE YOU TO PARTICIPATE. The Foundation asks you to become part of our expatriate network and help connect the Mekendeshter "Kyrgyzstandyn Kelechegine Salym" by doing the following:
• Find a community of compatriots abroad.
• Provide the International Foundation "Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva" with names and contact information for those compatriots abroad.
• Describe the success, practical experience, and contributions of those compatriots in local development. Take a photo!

The best stories will be included in a book, a collection of success stories that our Foundation will release in the second half of 2015, and the best activists to collect best practices will be encouraged by the International Foundation "Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva"
