The “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” International Public Foundation in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Kyrgyz Republic is holding the 6th meeting of the “Discover Asia” Initiative. This time, the theme presented for discussion will be the “South Korean Experience of Economic Development and Green Growth.”

The meeting will take place on October 31st at 6pm at: Bishkek, ul. Elebaeva 60 (restaurant ‘Zolotoi Drakon”).

Participating in the meeting as experts will be the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Chang-Gyu Kim, Coordinator of the ‘Green Growth’ Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea Mr. So Sang Pyo, Advisor to the Minister of Economics of the Kyrgyz Republic Lyubov Ivanovna Ten, Director of PF UNISON Nurzat Abdrasulova, Official Representative of Samsung in the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Duishebaevich Sharshkiev, experts from UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic as well as other experts.

For the record. “Discover Asia” is an informational-educational initiative of the “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” International Public Foundation, in which each Asian country is presented by experts, trade and economic attachés, businessmen, and representatives of various governmental circles.

By the year 2020, Korea is expected to become the leading country of the Asian economic bloc. For meeting this goal, the Korean Government placed ‘green growth’ as a leading priority for economic development. The policy of ‘green growth’ or a ‘green economy’ is directed at stimulating investment in environmental protection, which would then itself become a source of economic growth. The strategy of green, low-carbon economic growth is the direction of the present-day world economy. Kyrgyzstan is on the way to incorporating this experience.
