Water Museum opens its doors!

Water Museum (ul. Mederova 68 A, Perez. Str. Tynystanov).


 

April 22, 2015 on the basis of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University. KI Scriabin held opening ceremony of the Museum of Water, which has no analogues in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.


The premises occupy a separate wing of the museum Agrotechnical College KNAU them. Scriabin and filled with unique exhibits, equipment and interactive displays, interesting for both children and adults. It is expected to become one of the most remarkable cultural and tourist sites in Bishkek.


Since 2012, the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the Small Grants Programme of the Global Environment Facility / UNDP in Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek supported the creation of the Museum of Water-based KNAU them. Scriabin - one of the largest schools in the country, which trains for the country's future farmers, engineers, hydraulic engineers, hydropower, etc.


Initiator of the museum in 2011 acted as the Public Association "Akmena." Under the leadership of this organization for 4 years held engineering and decorating work.


4 years ago "wet" housing KNAU previously known all over Central Asia was closed without water and heating. And now you can play a large water cycle, to take part in the chemical show, learn about the unique properties of water, to understand how and where the water comes into our homes, to learn proper methods of irrigation, look at the microcosm of water under a microscope, to hear the voices of wetland birds and more. Part of the museum is decorated by underground grottoes, which can make the trip.


Significant contribution to the recovery of the housing and the creation of the museum made the Department of Water Resources and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the company "Grundfos", SAEPF KR, Scientific and Production Association "Ilim". The company "Kumtor" provided support in the design of the poster exhibitions on glaciers and recycling system of water use.


Currently, the museum completed work on the design. The opening of the museum to the general public is planned from June 2015.


Protection of water resources is one of the strategic goals not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also throughout Central Asia. Awareness of effective and sustainable ways of using water, the protection of aquatic ecosystems is important today for everyone!
